EROTIC: Pertaining to sexual love or desire. Although one commonly finds "erotic" ditsinguished fundamentally from pornography, the dividing line between the
two is by no means as clear as etymology would suggest (i.e., erotic from eros [love], pornography from porne [sexual servitude]). As a result, there is considerable
debate regarding the definition and role of the erotic in such things as appetitive drive, the critique of representation, the erotics of engagement, people who are
libidinally driven, and so on.
