The top gem quality
Australian opals command top prices and such opals have been sold for
over one million dollars. Boulder opals are the most stunning and
important new opal to come to the quality Australian Opal
Marketplace. We all know the price of gold. Color change sapphires are
the rarest of all sapphires.
I
believe rings should be designed to be comfortable,
spectacularly noticable and have colors designed to be
complimentary. Diamonds are a neutral color and serve to
reflect and refract the light. Gold is often classed as a 'neutral'
also, but in design terms it ranges from a high key
yellow to a brown green in the shadows. As such it is a
variable that provides great contrast to the gemstones. The
gold should also be robust and long wearing, but easy for the jeweler
to set, hence my preference for
14-18Kt. This ring is certainly spectacular in that
it combines so many of the variables. The pure colors of the
opal flash and change as do the two color change sapphires while the
golden yellow sets the perfect background color. Nothing in this ring
is at all static as you will note in the movie.
A
certificate is provided with this ring stating the opal and sapphires
are natural, untreated and the gold is hallmarked 14Kt. The ring size
can be altered without extra cost and shipment will be free should you
identify the two artists preforming in the background music.
As
most folk are aware I do not offer many items on my site as I love
the gemstones I offer and only offer those with some outstanding
features.

PLEASE
NOTE: My movies and presentations are of the
actual gemstones...
the visuals are done both to test me and entertain you. If I
did
not embrace the challenge I most likely would not be selling
gemstones! Should you desire a copy of the video please email me.

The top gem quality
Australian opals command top prices and such opals have been sold for
over one million dollars. Quality boulder opals have
two distinct and sometimes separate qualities.
First they can be nature's
paintings using a mix of red and black ironstone, fossilized wood,
golden opalized clay set in a stained glass configuration, that
produces the startling 'matrix'. Sometimes the cabochon or dome of the
opal is pitted and this is called an inclusion. Most opals either top
quality or otherwise have such inclusions. It is often a consequence of
the different opalized materials that come into conjunction to make the
picture that nature intends. It also is a guarantee that the opal is
natural.
The second quality is that of
the 'iridescent crystal' that divides nature's painting into its parts.
This crystal can be layered horizontally or vertically. Horizontally it
produces broad 'flashes' of color. Vertically it produces either
intense florescent changes within the matrix or pin-fire starlight.
All the best opals excel in
all or a singular regard, and some often combine two or more
effects. These are the gems of quality and are the ones I look
for and feature on ebay. There are many opals in the marketplace but at
Cowdisley we only buy the artistically outstanding. They allow the
imagination to soar, romance and drama to amplify, and brutal reality
to disappear. Wear one in a ring or pendant and you will carry the true
history of the earth in living color. This is such an opal!
One other caveat here...
opals appreciate strong light, be it strong incandescent or natural
sunlight, then they give their utmost which is often never surpassed by
any other gemstone.
These photographs
are extreme enlargements made under sunlight or very bright
lights with a macro lens so you can observe the gem's clarity,
and of course, a magnification of any flaws. Monitors vary so I have
little control over the color on your screen only to say these
were made for a gamma corrected flat screen monitor with colors as
close as possible to the original.
All gems have been inspected
by a qualified gemologist and are guaranteed as natural. We
at Cowdisley are committed to top customer service, and
quality material. Email is encouraged with any questions before placing
your bid. We will try to respond to email within 24hrs.
